Air New Zealand`s Perth Lounge

The new 441 sq.m.-lounge offers space for more than 110 guests and is divided into four different zones, including a café, as well as business, lounge and quiet areas. A self-service food buffet and drinks station is also on offer. It is located on level two of the airport terminal with windows overlooking an internal atrium. 

Air New Zealand General Manager Customer Experience Anita Hawthorne says the airline is excited to open a brand-new space for customers flying out of Perth.

"We are committed to improving the customer experience and continue to invest heavily in the Australian market. This includes the operation of the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on many routes and promoting services through our 'Better Way to Fly' campaign starring Dave the Goose which encourages Australians to travel to North and South America on Air New Zealand," Ms Hawthorne says.

A full buffet is available in the dining area, with an extensive selection that changes four times each day.

An array of amenities include AC and USB power sockets throughout the lounge along with wireless charging points as well as roomy shower suites. 

The lounge will be open from 04:00 a.m. until 07:00 p.m..

Qantas welcomes guests into the new spacious London Lounge at Heathrow`s Terminal 3 with innovative spaces and amenities.
Qantas Group CEO Alan Joyce said investing in the first dedicated Qantas Lounge at Heathrow was key as the airline prepares to directly air link Australia and Europe for the first time.
“The Kangaroo Route is at the heart of Qantas’ identity and London is one of our most important destinations,” said Mr Joyce.
“We have worked with leaders in design, food and service to create a lounge that is modern and comfortable and incorporates the aesthetics of the Qantas lounges that make our customers feel at home.

Key features of the lounge include:

- Seating for more than 230 customers

- Split over two levels with views of the airfield

- Interiors reflect London at twilight with deep green and rich blue while dark wood, stone and brass represent the historical architecture of the city.

- A marble cocktail bar beneath a brass chandelier on the upper level serves cocktails, as well as Australian and European wine and beer

- A gin bar on the lower level offers the finest Australian and British gins, alongside an all-day barista service  Menus. Guests will enjoy á la carte service in the dining room with a selection of plates of the day.

- Premium hot and cold buffets

- ‘Quench’ hydration station with tisane, fruit infused water, sparkling water

- Business facilities including Wi-Fi, flexible work spaces and workstations, six shower suites with Aurora Spa amenities

Qantas Creative Director of Food, Beverage & Service Neil Perry said: “We want to help our customers feel great throughout every part of their journey so we have been working with the University of Sydney to create dining options for the lounge that are light and fresh with a focus on hydration and nutrition, while continuing to offer a variety of locally inspired dishes and comfort favourites.”

The Qantas London Lounge is open daily from 08:00 a.m. – 08:30 p.m..

Iberia opens refurbished Madrid Lounge

Iberia has completely refurbished its Velázquez Lounge at Madrid Airport. The 2,500 sq.m. lounge space with spectacular views of both take-off and landing runways at Madrid’s airport. “From now on, to rest, to work, to enjoy a refreshment, or calmly wait for your flight to be called have a new meaning; we have made improvements to everything, with special attention to connectivity and food service, for an unrivalled customer experience,” says Gabriel Perdiguero, Iberia’s Customer and Business Transformation director.

The new Velázquez Premium Lounge is now bigger and offer more services. Located in T4 Satellite building, it can accommodate up to 500 guests at a time.

Unlimited Wi-Fi connection, furniture with USB charging ports throughout the lounge, and coming soon Smart Touch TV informing of services available at all times.

Larger, improved restaurant areas with services for every taste and need. Cold and hot buffets are available as well as a traditional restaurant. A Health Point is soon to come, and coffee and tea are served in several different areas. A “Vinothècque” offers a selection of 22 exquisite Spanish regional wines.

The rest zone features chaise-longues, and there are six large shower cabins with all the amenities as well as a special area for children offering a TV, traditional games, and games consoles.

The new Iberia Premium Lounge Velázquez is open 24/7.

British Airways has revamped its flagship Concorde Room at Heathrow Terminal 5.

The refurbishment included re-upholstering iconic pieces of furniture, and adding new feature pieces to the room, all of which are illuminated by hand-blown glass lighting with bone linen shades and ochre silk linings.

The terrace, which is so popular with travellers thanks to its position overlooking the runway, features luxurious sofas and new elegant loungers.   

Mobile phone chargers are also on hand for travellers to ensure their devices are fully charged before they fly.

Carolina Martinoli, British Airways’ director of brand and customer experience, said: “In recent years we’ve invested in our lounges, including new ones in Boston and Gatwick South Terminal and revamped spaces in Edinburgh, Cape Town, Amsterdam, Belfast, Washington, Singapore and Dubai.
“We believe our customers will love the new look and feel of the Concorde Room, in particular the terrace that we have re-designed to create a private oasis in the middle of a bustling airport.”

Customers will still be able to dine before they fly in private booths with a full waiter service. If they wish to unwind ahead of their flight, private cabanas with a day bed and en-suite bathroom are available to book.

The new Terminal 4 at Singapore’s Changi Airport takes innovation to the next level by offering Cathay Pacific customers an integrated suite of self-service options, reducing queueing time and speeding up the process right through to boarding.

The opening of Terminal 4 coincides with the unveiling of a dedicated Cathay Pacific lounge, one of the airline’s largest lounges outside Hong Kong, with seating for more than 200 customers.

Similar in style to Cathay Pacific’s award-winning lounges at The Pier in Hong Kong, the new lounge provides a “living room” environment of understated luxury in which guests can relax, eat and work before their flight.

Designer furniture and lighting has been carefully selected for practicality, comfort and privacy, while the use of natural materials, plenty of greenery and artworks by local artists add to the lounge’s welcoming atmosphere.

There is also a strong focus on food and beverage services, with the dining area featuring Cathay Pacific’s iconic Noodle Bar, offering a selection of freshly prepared Asian dishes including its signature Dan Dan Noodles and local favorite, Singapore Laksa.

American Express announced the expansion of its signature airport lounge network, The Centurion Lounge, with its new location in Hong Kong International Airport. It marks the first Centurion lounge in Asia.

Guests can now enjoy the haven of an Emirates Lounge with the opening of the airline’s 41st dedicated airport lounge at Boston Logan International Airport.

The Emirates Lounge is a dedicated space for passengers to relax, unwind, catch up on work and enjoy award-winning service and cuisine.
The interior design and décor in the dedicated Emirates Lounge is built around a new contemporary and fresh design. Located on the upper level of Terminal E, the lounge will overlook gate E – 11. The new Emirates Lounge will offer seating for up to 123 customers covering an area of 695 sq.m.. The lounge will provide premium passengers with a relaxing ambiance, luxurious facilities and amenities that include an exciting view of airport activity, LED TVs, comfortable leather armchairs, a choice of formal and relaxed seating, bespoke artwork, and a prayer room. To complete the relaxing travel experience, a new range of luxury spa products will also be available in the lounge from award-winning Irish brand VOYA. This skincare line includes hair & body wash, conditioner, hand cream and hand wash.

What’s more, the lounge will feature a dedicated dining area with a choice of bar seating, an extensive menu of complimentary hot and cold gourmet buffet, including local and international dishes, and an extensive beverage service including wines from reputable American vineyards. While in the lounge, customers will enjoy shower facilities, a fully equipped business center with state of the art touch screen workstations along with complimentary Wi-Fi service within the lounge. Chicago O`Hare is home to the first United Polaris Lounge, near gate C18. The new facility is an oasis of thoughtful design and furnishings, including the custom art installation “North Star Chicago” by artist Wolfgang Buttress. Guests wil find signature seats that offer a private place to relax or get some work done. They feature pull-out desks, integrated AC and USB power, and table-mounted lamps.

Guests may enjoy an extensive selection of hot and cold à la carte offerings from the buffet. A modern bar area offers specially curated wines, premium spirits, craft beer selections and handcrafted cocktails, which can be paired with meals or enjoyed on their own. There is even the option to select a seated pre-flight dining service for a full, restaurant-quality meal before boarding.

Concierge representatives are available in the United Polaris lounge to help make dinner reservations, purchase entertainment tickets, arrange for a rental car or provide other travel assistance.

Within a starry lit hallway are shower suites to freshen up. Tucked away from the rest of the United Polaris lounge, there`s a soothing place to rest on day beds with blankets and pillows. Soft lighting and gentle white noise add just the right ambience in these cozy spaces.

Air New Zealand welcomes customers into its new-look lounge at Melbourne International Airport. 

Located on the ground floor of the airport terminal, the lounge carries an ultra-modern design.

The lounge offers five different spaces for up to 249 guests, allowing customers to relax and refresh or get some work done. A self-service food buffet, two self-service drink stations and a barista station are also available.
Air New Zealand General Manager Customer Experience Anita Hawthorne says the airline is committed to improving the customer experience and is proud to be able to offer customers flying out of Melbourne a new lounge space with 50 percent more seating than the previous lounge.
