General Impression

Average lounge, with average people staffing it. One can occasionally find a gem when help is needed for irregular ops. I recently had a scare where the late flight to FRA looked like it might have been cancelled, meaning I'd miss my LH connection to JNB. Agent helpfully booked me on the BA flight the next morning, connecting in 60 minutes to the BA flight to JNB, and *also* booked me on the SAA flight to Joburg, connecting in 70 minutes. Thankfully this wasn't needed, but this was a VERY pleasant surprise, as sometimes the agents just shrug.

Food and Beverages

Soft drinks, juices, coffees. Basic snacks (cheese, crackers, fruit, vegetables, candies). Alcoholic drinks available for free.

Showers and Spa

Just a couple of bathrooms, no showers, etc.

Entertainment and Business-facilities

Free local phone calls. Get your Washington Post here, as they don't offer it on UA flights out of Dulles anymore, IME.

Special facilities and services

No longer an escort to gate. Directly adjacent to the smoking room in the concourse.

Visitor Comments

This lounge is nothing to write home about, however it beats sitting with the huddled masses when flying 1st internationally. They let pax. stay in the lounge during delays of the 2 South America flights and/or the last 2 Europe flights (LHR and FRA), however they start removing the food and lock up the drinks even if there are still people there.

(Comment by Stitch) For the 2005 holidays (late December), UA really improved the catering, which I hope stays:

  • Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label champagne
  • Full cold sliced Fillet Mignon with country mustard and horseradish sauces
  • Bombay Sapphire gin
  • Cold shrimp cocktails
  • Typical cheese, sandwiches and crudite
